Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal data Padi collects, why, and your rights. We process personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
What we collect
- Profile: name, photo, year of birth, gender, job, industry, workplace, education, relationship status, children, lifestyle and your "about me".
- Verification: your NIN (stored only in scrambled form plus the last 4 digits), a photo of your ID, a selfie, and for listers, proof that you live in the flat.
- Reference: the name and phone of someone who can vouch for you, used only to confirm you.
- Listings: area, costs, room details, photos and video tour.
- Activity: requests, acceptances, viewings, reviews and reports.
- Payments: amount, date and status. Card details are handled by Paystack; we never see or store card numbers.
Who sees what
| Information | Who can see it |
|---|---|
| First name, photo, age, job, industry, lifestyle, reviews | Everyone, if you list a room. Only listers you send a request to, if you're looking. |
| Surname, workplace | The other person, after a request is accepted |
| Phone, email, full address | The other person, after acceptance and payment |
| ID, selfie, proof of residence, reference | Padi's review team only |
We share data with our hosting, payment and messaging providers only as needed to run Padi, and with authorities only when the law requires it. We do not sell your personal data.
How long we keep it
ID photos and selfies are deleted 90 days after you close your account. The scrambled NIN and phone number of banned accounts are kept so the ban can be enforced. Payment records are kept as long as Nigerian financial and tax rules require.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, withdraw consent, or object to how we use it. You can also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
